Condition

Kenny was terrified of going to the dentist. At age 17 he came to Dr. McIntosh requesting all of his teeth be removed and replaced with dentures because he was unaware of the options available to him. He thought extracting his teeth would end trips to the dentist. He sought drastic measures even though his condition was not severe. Kenny had several uneven teeth, decay, spaces and an under-bite.

Procedure

At the initial consultation, Dr. McIntosh advised him to see an oral surgeon and orthodontist to correct his bite. However, because of his fear, Kenny was not ready for that procedure. In addition, Dr. McIntosh was opposed to Kenny getting dentures due to his age and the importance of maintaining his original teeth.

During the past 12 year relationship with Kenny, Dr. McIntosh has redesigned his smile at a pace that was right for him. First she bonded his front two teeth and more recently, Dr. McIntosh applied porcelain veneers to his top six upper and lower teeth. His new smile has helped him to feel more confident.
