Dental Implants

Approximately 45 million American adults are missing teeth. The loss of your natural teeth often results in facial structure collapse due to bone loss. In the past, bridges, which are a series of crowns that fill the spaces of missing teeth, or dentures, were the options available to replace teeth. Neither of these procedures addresses bone loss. Today, we have an exciting new alternative, dental implants.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are titanium cylinders that are surgically implanted in the jawbone to function like the root of your missing teeth. After the implant is allowed to heal in the jawbone for a period of 4-6 months, a restoration is fit on top of the implant.

Implants are firmly fixed in the surrounding bone. It acts like the root and after 4-6 months the bone forms around the implant.

The restoration is designed to allow access for oral hygiene.

Cutting edge, white tooth colored abutments screw into implant bodies.

Ceramic Crowns attach to the abutments by screws.

Why are dental implants a better option than dentures or bridges?

Bone loss occurs after a tooth is removed. Dental implants are the only option for preserving bone when one or more teeth are lost. Dental implants preserve facial structure, help to preserve teeth adjacent to the lost tooth, improve chewing capability and comfort, as well as speech.

What are the types of Implants?

  • Single tooth replacement
  • Posterior Replacement
  • Full Lower Replacement
  • Upper Replacement

Who are candidates for dental implants?

Almost anyone that is missing teeth is a candidate for dental implants regardless of age, physical condition, or other factors. Dental implants are as close to natural teeth as possible. When a patient is missing teeth and wants a smile makeover, dental implants are the perfect compliment.
